Eclipse Planning

MEET YOUR ADVISORY TEACHER in HIS/HER CLASSROOM. 9:10-9:15 - Attendance and Pledge of Allegiance. Read announcements AND Eclipse viewing instructions (BELOW):

ECLIPSE VIEWING INSTRUCTIONS: The total solar eclipse is a truly unique viewing experience. A total solar eclipse in the United States is quite rare. The last total eclipse in the U.S. was in 1979 and the last time it crossed the entire continental U.S. was in 1918. It will not happen again until 2106. This viewing is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The phase-in of the Eclipse will begin at 11:38 AM and last until 1:03 PM. At 1:03 PM, we will enter totality (full solar eclipse) for nearly 2 minutes and 50 seconds. At 1:06 PM, the Eclipse will phase-out until approximately 2:27 PM.

IT IS A MUST THAT YOU WEAR PROTECTIVE EYE-WEAR ANYTIME YOU LOOK AT THE SUN, WHETHER DURING THE PHASE-IN or PHASE-OUT PERIOD. DURING TOTALITY, YOU MAY VIEW THE BLOCKED OUT SUN DIRECTLY. IT WILL LOOK LIKE A FULL MOON. NEVER view any part of the sun without your filtered safety glasses. Damage can and will occur to your eyes that can be permanent. You wouldn't walk outside and stare at the sun on a regular day, so please don't do it on Eclipse Day, including during PHASE-IN and PHASE-OUT. THANKS FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

Bus loading begins at 9:15 AM. ** We will take five buses to the Koehler Farm. Bus #1 will be parked in the front of the bus line. Bus #5 will be parked at the back of the line. You will ride the same bus assignments are with Advisory Period teachers:
