Platteview Central Junior High

The mission of Springfield Platteview Community Schools is to ensure that all students acquire the 21st century skills and behaviors necessary for each student to succeed now and into his/her future.

21st century skills and behaviors are defined as follows:

Core Knowledge/Literacy:  Essential Learning Proficiency (Standards); Global Literacy; Financial and Economic Literacy; Civic Literacy; Health and Wellness Literacy; Beginning Career Knowledge.

Higher Level Thinking Skills:  Problem Solving; Decision Making; Making Inferences; Application; Synthesis and Creativity/Innovation; and Analysis and Evaluation.

Communications Literacy:  Communications and Information Technology; Reading/Writing/Speaking/Listening Proficiency; Collaboration; and Research.

Life Skills:  Ethics; Responsibility and Personal Productivity; Self-Reflection and Direction; Social Responsibility; Leadership; and Adaptability.

Platteview Central at a Glance

Platteview Central is a wonderful school where students learn and grow in a positive and engaging environment.  Platteview Central serves approximately 180 students, split almost equally between its 7th and 8th grade teams.  The staff at Platteview Central is a terrific mix of experienced teachers at various stages of their careers.  Each teacher comes together with his/her peers with innovation and collaboration to transform students into life-long learners.  

Our district is a 1:1 iPad district, with each student having access to his/her own iPad during the school year.  At the secondary level (including PC), students use the technology for engagement, planning, communication and presentations.  

Platteview Central is known for excellence, annually producing outstanding student results on state NeSA exams.  For the past four years, Platteview Central has proven itself to be one of the high performing Junior High's in the Omaha Metro area.  Our outstanding scores in Reading, Math, Science and Writing are a testament to the great teaching, high expectations and parent support that we strive for each day.

Lastly, Platteview Central offers a diverse curriculum, where students gain core content knowledge and also have the chance to explore and learn outside the core classroom areas.  We also offer a variety of clubs, organizations, sports, music and arts that will surely get kids involved with their school and classmates.
